Grades 2-5:

“Celebrations and More” – 4:30-5:15 p.m.   Materials Fee: $10.00

What makes the Jewish year different from everyone else’s year? Explore the beauty of the Jewish calendar, holidays, the weekly parashah and gain a Hebrew vocabulary at the same time. Learn about the cycles of the Jewish calendar through song, dance, cooking, storytelling and other fun interactive activities. 

“Tzedakah Club” – 5:45-6:30 p.m.   Materials Fee: None
Instructor: Margo Riekes
Students will learn the meaning of “Tzedakah” and why it is an important Jewish value that has been passed down to us. Tzedakah is not just about giving money but also about helping others in need and making our world a better place in which to live. Speakers and a field trip are planned to help the children learn about the needs in our community, our country and the world. Members of the “club” will learn to do the ‘right thing’.

 

Grades 6-7:

“Text Messages from the Talmud” – 4:30-5:15 p.m.   Materials Fee: None

Do you love riddles, puzzles, solving problems? Have you thought about this, that and the other? The Jewish Talmud is fi lled with many modern day puzzles that were solved years ago. Find out what happens when you get hit on the head from an apple falling from a tree, fall on something in the street or why we do things the way we do. Remember to read between the lines and always ask questions!
