Beth El Youth Groups – Busy Times and Looking Ahead
By Shiri Tene
The end of 2011 was a busy and exciting time for our youth groups! December kicked off with an ice skating program for Kadima at Tranquility Ice Plex on December 4, and the teens enjoyed an afternoon learning how to skate like pros. Our Chaverim group was also treated to a fun evening of bowling with their buddies at Sempeck’s.
On December 17, our USYers enjoyed a unique evening at Rabbi Abraham’s home with Beth El Synagogue’s artist in residence, Jonathan Adam Ross, playing, “Whose Pasuk is it anyway?” ‘Pasuk’ is the word for “verses,” or sentences that are found in the Torah. Shira Abraham helped the group make their own homemade pizzas for dinner, and afterward, the teens led a Havdalah service. Jon was kind enough to lead this fantastic improv program and the teens were able to catch up on their bible stories while playing it!
With January came more fun programming! The Chaverim board members met on January 8 for their first board meeting of the year. On the same day, Kadima met in the social hall for a Nerf Guns and Games competition. The kids broke off into teams and played in a specially designed Nerf Gun game court.
What a busy year so far! Stay tuned for more exciting and fun activities yet to come! For any question on upcoming events please contact Shiri.
