I. GOALS & OBJECTIVES

The High School of Jewish Studies offers a contemporary curriculum which is geared to the needs and interests of Jewish teenagers. The program includes a variety of subjects in areas which allow High School students to acquire Jewish knowledge and values in preparation for the future.

The general goals are as follows:

  1. To develop a sensitivity to Jewish culture - history, literature and arts
  2. To help the student develop a positive Jewish identity, with special attention to self, family and community
  3. To plant a seed for commitment - to the local Jewish community, to Israel and to K'lal Yisrael
  4. To provide an understanding of the different branches of Judaism and the relationship of Judaism to other religions, cults, etc.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. The High School program is open to all Jewish high school students in the Omaha area.
  2. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at Beth El Synagogue.
