Men’s Club Invites You to The Ultimate ‘Wrap Session’

On Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 9 a.m., Beth El will join Jews from across the globe who will participate in the annual World-Wide Wrap, sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs. This event gives participants an opportunity to learn about and wrap tefillin, as well as gain a new understanding about this important mitzvah. Ben Shapiro is serving as local chairman.

For those who have never wrapped tefillin but would like to learn how, volunteers will offer assistance at 8:45 a.m. Minyan will begin at 9 a.m., followed by breakfast and a presentation led by Rabbi Levin. In addition, a new video, “Wrapped: The How and Why of Tallit and Tefillin,” will be shown. The film focuses on the significance of tallit and tefillin in individuals’ lives and in the larger context of Jewish belief.

The entire community is invited to participate in this symbolic and meaningful exercise – join us Sunday morning and be part of the ultimate ‘wrap session’!

Men’s Club Invites Community
Participates in ‘World Wide Wrap’

Sunday February 5, 2006, 9am

The Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs will hold its annual World Wide Wrap on February 5, 2005. If you have never wrapped tefillin or haven't done so since your bar/bat mitzvah, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn about this important mitzvah. World Wide Wrap is a Men's Club program meant to inspire Jewish adults, male and female, to perform the mitzvah of laying tefillin.

On this day, we try to have all Jews everywhere put on TEFILLIN. Sounds crazy! No? But now . . . it is a TRADITION! You may ask, "How did this tradition get started?" IN THE BEGINNING there was an idea, a vision, a dream!

Picture this in the eye of your mind: February 5, 2006. The sun rises. It is time for minyan. Jewish families across the globe will gather together at Shul and put on Tefillin! They will experience the mitzvah and wrap themselves in the words and spirit of holiness. You and Beth El Synagogue can be a part of this experience!

To be sure your tefillin are kosher, they must be in good repair. If the cases are worn they must be repaired with a special paint. If anyone needs their tefillin repaired or if they need to buy tefillin, please contact either Harry Weiner at 397-8028, or Ben Shapiro at 934-4341.

If you have any questions, contact Harry. Looking forward to seeing YOU at Beth El Men's Club World Wide Wrap this year! In the meantime, check out the World Wide Wrap website.

Support Our Men's Club
Yellow Candle Project

We thank our Men's Club for once again sending out Yom HaShoah candles to members of our congregation. Sent as part of a service project undertaken by members of the National Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs, these candles are solemn reminders to commemorate Yom HaShoah, this year being observed May 6. Fred Kader and Ben Shapiro have served as chairmen of the local effort.

We encourage all recipients of these yellow candles to send in a donation to Beth El; all amounts are appreciated, and multiples of $18 are requested. All proceeds will benefit youth programming at Beth El.
