Gan - Kindergarten

Hebrew: “Journey Through the Aleph Beit”
Students will be introduced to beginning letter sounds of words that correspond to their study of holidays, synagogue and the Jewish family. They will be able to recognize Hebrew letters, know their sounds and will be able to print them.
Prayers: Students will have weekly opportunities to participate in a school-wide assembly and classroom activities. They will learn to say all of the blessings over different foods during snack time. They will learn parts of the morning service. To promote the students’ spiritual growth, teachers will help them explore their thoughts and feelings about God and the wonders of life.
Holidays/Social Studies: Jewish holidays, home, synagogue and family are introduced including vocabulary, practices and meaning of major Jewish celebrations for the home, family or synagogue ritual. They will have a special memory book just for them!
Bible: Students will become acquainted with some of the Bible stories, such as the Creation story, the Garden of Eden, Abraham, Isaac & Jacob.
Students will receive their Torahs during Simchat Torah on Monday, October 17.
Kitah Aleph - First Grade
Sundays, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Hebrew: “Shalom Aleph Beit”
Students will become familiar with the Hebrew aleph-beit letters and vowels. They will practice single-syllable letter-vowel combinations and systematically practice letter-to-sound and vowel-to-sound relationships.
Prayers: Students will have weekly opportunities to participate in a school-wide service and classroom activities. They will also have their own age appropriate prayer books.
To promote the students’ spiritual growth, teachers will help them explore their feelings about God and the wonders of life through discussions, role play and art.
Holidays: Lessons that address the themes of family, synagogue, and holidays. We will introduce the vocabulary, practices, and meaning of our major Jewish celebrations.
Bible: “Let’s Discover the Bible”
Discover the Bible. Classic Bible stories brought to life through games, discussions, vocabulary and hands on learning.
Kitah Beit - Second Grade
Sundays, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Teacher: Zach Stein
Hebrew: "Journeys: A Hebrew Primer"
"Journeys: A Hebrew Primer" teaches decoding skills from key cultural words and concepts. Students will be encouraged to use the online Primer tool using the Prayertech app.
Prayers: Students will have weekly opportunities to participate in a school-wide service and classroom activities. They will also have their own age-appropriate prayer books.
To promote the students’ spiritual growth, teachers will help them explore their feelings about God and the wonders of life through discussions, role play and art.
Holidays: Through art and music we will discover even more about our Jewish calendar and holidays. We will introduce the vocabulary, practices and meaning of our major Jewish celebrations.
Bible: “My Weekly Sidra”
Students will learn about Bible stories in a creative and often dramatic way.
