Welcome Back to BESTT !

Dear BESTT Parents and Students,

I am beginning my ninth year as Director of Congregational Learning at Beth El Synagogue. This is one for the books! We finished off last year as best as we could and now we are looking towards a new adventure in Jewish education. Thank goodness, doing Jewish doesn’t really change even in the time of Covid 19. Studying, learning and teaching our children goes on every day. Celebrating and sharing experiences is more important now than ever as we plan our calendar and make our way through this new school year.

It is imperative that we make sure our school continues to build into a cohesive community. More and more people are participating in our school, both online and near the building, and we can see more students choosing to stay part of the Beth El Family long after their B’nai Mitzvah dates. Children learn from their parents, and I am so thankful to all those parents who volunteer with our youth activities and make sure that their children stay involved. One of my wise teachers once said, “Judaism isn’t a choice, it’s a lifestyle”. And to add to that, I have learned “the more you participate, the more you belong”. Both are so true and both are so obvious. We like to think that we are a second home to our students and that they feel that they are an important part of what goes on at Beth El. We look forward to a year filled with learning, Ruach, and friendship. Let’s make sure to keep Jewish education at the forefront of our students’ education and make this the BESTT year ever!

Semester I: October 3-December 15
Semester II: January 9-May 15

Sunday classes begin at 9:30 am SHARP and will end at 12:00 pm.
Wednesday classes begin at 4:15 pm and will end at 6:00 pm.

Please be respectful to our teachers and be here on time. It is difficult to have class when people drift in late.

My very best wishes to everyone for a successful school year in 2021-2022
