Book of Remembrance
Orders Due Friday, August 22. Click here to complete the Book of Remembrance form.
Beth El Synagogue’s annual Yizkor Book of Remembrance is a special memorial of our loved ones and our congregation's living history. By listing the names of our departed, we keep their memories close to us during the Holidays. As we have done in years prior, a Book of Remembrance will be available to use during Yizkor Services.
During the Yizkor Memorial Service, four times a year, the Memorial Book helps us remember those who shaped our lives. The Book of Remembrance is a prayer book, enveloping the names of our loved ones in our sacred prayers and in our hope for God’s blessing on the souls of the departed. When we see their names in print, we remind ourselves and one another of their living legacy.
Yahrzeit plaques found in the Hall of Remembrance are reprinted in the Book of Remembrance automatically. You may request as many other names as you wish to be printed. The request can be made online on Beth El’s website or in the form enclosed for your convenience. It is customary to contribute a “חי ” donation of $18 for each name listed.
If your loved ones are not yet perpetually memorialized in our Hall of Remembrance, the High Holy Days period is a wonderful time to make that decision. Plaques are $400 each and may be ordered by contacting Allison at anewfeld@bethel-omaha.org. The cost of the plaque is considered a tax-deductible donation to Beth El.
If you wish to include those who have passed away in previous years, we must have the completed form no later than Friday, August 22. Please note, the names of those Beth El members who died during the past Hebrew year are automatically listed in a separate section within the Book of Remembrance.
